Save Richmond, Virginia
CAPE HENRY MEMORIAL
THE ENGLISH SETTLERS LANDED APRIL 26, 1607
Mrs. Pauline Vance Wheeler, the granddaughter of slaves, felt compelled one early Friday morning before dawn in summer of 2002 to board a bus in Richmond bound for Chesapeake with one mission in mind…. to meet with her son to write “O Virginia”, a state song. Mrs. Wheeler said, “What better way to inspire, encourage and grant our citizens and leaders a reminder that our history has taught us many lessons of character, courage and sacrifice. With these virtues we not only can conquer real challenges but also set standards that will inspire our other states.” In her office at 87, she could breathe a sigh of relief because “O Virginia” is finally complete.
At age 98, Mother is now enjoying her garden.
I am so thrilled for Mother to have her “moment in the sun”. She had sacrificed her own interest and career to be a stay-at-home to see that, my three brothers, sister and I had the best upbringing one could ever hope for. The office picture was taken at the completion of this project in 2009. She was
87 years old. The garden picture was taken August 13, 2020.This August 15, 2020 she will be 98. Yes, you are welcome to send her a card at Pauline Wheeler, c/o Pauron For Mayor,P.O. Box 26841, Richmond, Virginia 23261. Let me thank you in advance for that.–THANK YOU!– Mother was the visionary and financier of this project that lasted seven years. O Virginia transitioned from a cassette tape to a DVD. Hopefully this work will help to strengthen ones resolve that we are and will continue to be
“One nation, under God”.
